94.06.13 workshop FRI session 20 Alternatives to Fossil Fuels 1. Fossil fuels are still our main source of energy 2. We are dependent upon them for development of our economy and industries 3. the scale of their use continues to grow. However, we are well aware of the consequences of such dependence 4. global warming, and the damage to the protective ozone layer 5. carbon dioxide and other by‐products of fossil fuels 6. these are global challenges rather than national ones 7. no action by a single country could solve these problems 8. perhaps our natural world won't be able to support us in not so distant a future 9. we must use safer alternative energy sources 10.there hasn't been sufficient investment in developing such technologies 11.we need to make them viable 12.it should be a global priority to invest in it 13.there are other global priorities 14.we need to address these priorities, too 15.poverty and disease 16.these problems are just as important as the energy problem 17.time is ticking away for our planet 18.finding alternatives is the most pressing global priority Good luck!
