Some people believe that children are given too much free time. They feel that this time should be used to do more school work. How do you think children should spend their free time? Childhood involves plenty of idle time without any serious burdens associated with the adult world for children, hence this period can be considered a golden time to teach some basic skills to them. Obviously, children have much free time compared with adults and even adolescents. Besides, these days due to our highly competitive lifestyle, there has been a growing inclination to take full advantage of the idle time even during childhood by arranging intensive instructional timetables by parents so that children are able to stay ahead of their peers during their life. These timetables can consist of learning how to play an instrument, acquiring a new language or even doing some intellectual practice with the aim of improving the efficiency of a child's brain regardless of children's interests which is normally tend to be playing with their age group or spending a great deal of time to discover/explore realize their environment and human relations, whereas these processes of cognition can assist them in learning more about themselves and their environment. I am of the opinion that parents and teachers should strike a balance and avoid arranging hard assignments for their children because such methods, regardless of having the short‐term advantages for them, can engender into them a sense of resentment against learning into them. In this case, our children might even show signs of regression in the future. In conclusion, although such intensive curriculums seem to have a great effect on our children's future prospects, these can prevent them from natural development, including perceiving the environment through trial and error, playing and other activities.
