Essay: Water is a natural resource that should always be free. Governments should ban sale of bottled water. To what extent do you agree or disagree? Some people think that since water is a natural resource, it should be free and the sale of bottled water should be totally prohibited. I strongly disagree with this issue, in the view of the fact that water treatment processes are costly, so drinking water shouldn't be free. In my opinion, since water shortage is probably the most serious environmental problem that we have faced recently, which is due to mismanagement of resources, it is costly to save destroyed/depleted/exhausted resources and treat the contaminated ones. Moreover, according to the growth of population, great civilizations, and climate change, our ecosystem has been changed and many natural resources of clean drinking water are dealing with great dangers of permanent depletion. Therefore, it cannot be freely distributed to consumers, adding the fact that when consumers pay for water, they may think twice when before they may waste it. Furthermore, I think it is not wise to totally ban bottled water, because it has its own benefits. For instance, in some areas that where there isn't any access to tap water, they can be used. Additionally, for some people that are allergic to certain minerals, since the water's exact ingredients is are written on the bottle, it can be beneficial. The most concerning issue about bottled water, is the plastic which the bottle is made of it. Most of them are not biodegradable and as most of the price of the bottled water is because of its bottle, they should be collected and recycled. In my opinion, there isn't any difference between the quality of bottled water and tap water and the idea of that bottled water are is healthier should be debunked controlled in their advertisements. All in all, since water is the a fundamental of our life on earth, and its treatment and distribution is are costly, it cannot be free.
