Public libraries should only provide books and should not waste their limited resources on expensive high-tech media such as software, videos or DVDs. Do you agree or disagree? Nowadays it is often claimed that investing in expensive media like videos or DVDs is not necessary and libraries have to only provide books. I, to a great extent, disagree with this idea that libraries should disregard high-tech media because they are as important as books in different aspects. To begin with, high-tech media play an important role in learning. For example, some of them are well designed, entertainingment and very attractive not only for children but also for adults and older people who are bored with reading monotonous books. Only when people gravitate toward something, will they learn it better. Another significant fact which should be taken into consideration is that this technology forces people to use the Internet which has have had a significant impact on our life. In this way, people must learn how to use the Internet correctly that is very beneficial. In addition, people can update their knowledge constantly, while books take a few months to be published. Also some books are not available in local libraries and they are scarce, so people can find them easily and access many online libraries in a minimum time. On the basis of the points mentioned above, I am inclined to believe that using the latest technology alongside the traditional ways is worthwhile. Although this way brings some problems, for instance people spend sometimes some time in solitary, there are many advantages and public libraries would benefit in different ways were they equipped with this technology.
