Punishment is necessary to help children in the process of success. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this opinion? Why? In the recent decades, especially after advancement in the theories and approaches of teaching and training, there have been controversial debates over the concept of punishment in the field of learning. Some state that punishment not only would not result in positive effects, but also would leads to negative consequences on the following grounds. First and foremost, experts talk about destructive feedback of punishment- physically or mentallythough the mental one/latter is much more long lasting; In other words, corporal punishment’s signs usually disappear by the passage of time, but its damaging repercussions on individuals’ personality stay in some cases forever, namely anger, anxiety and low self-esteem. Additionally, if such punitive action takes place in public, the harm and degrading of man’s character would be deeper and its compensation would be hardly possible; and long and tough therapy and consultation sessions are needed to cure someone. Another significant point is the importance of other constructive approaches which are encouraging rather than discouraging. For instance, the most widespread way is providing children with a gift, particularly, to kids in the kindergarten, a present can be a good motivation; It can be a cartoon sticker or a nice bicycle. It is worth mentioning that the kind of present should be in accordance with the level of success. However, parents and teachers should take this issue into consideration that they ought to avoid excessive offering of gifts, for it would become a habit for students to study or do their responsibilities just in return of for taking something, in other words maintaining balance is crucial. All in all, in the path of victory, in on one hand, encouraging rather than punishingment is much more influential on personality and mentality, in on the other hand, punishment-physically or verballydegrades people’s character and brings opposite results/backfires/defeats the purpose.
