Telecommuting refers to workers doing their jobs from home far part pf each week and communicating with their office using computer technology. Telecommuting is growing in many countries and is expected to be common for most office workers in the coming decades. How do you think society will be affected by the growth if telecommuting? Technological innovations, especially in the field of IT, have greatly influence our lives. One of these effects are the way people work. Traditionally, individuals commute from their house to their offices and vice versa, while due to the innovations, they could stay at home and do their affairs, and just go to the office, let say, once a week just for some minor issues. This type of working is named ‘Telecommuting’. This essay is going to discuss this revolution in lifestyle and its societal influences. At the very first point, it should be mentioned that this development could dramatically reduce the total cost of living in the cities. If governments knew that by how far they could benefit from it, they would encourage research and development companies to invest in it by setting some motivations like tax incentives. Besides, Burdens like consumption of fuel and fatigue and erosion of public facilities will greatly dwindle, consequently providing the city with savings suitable for further development plans is possible. Next, having more free time, individuals will be able to enjoy more and to spend more time on entertainments. this directly affect the society and economy as the more entertainment people will experience, the more happier and healthier life they will have, and in overall, both the economy and society will be more productive as a result of this satisfaction. The last but not least, is the direct influence Telecommuting has on the air pollution. As it intensively reduces the demand for transportation, even the public ones, it could lead to less particles like carbonmonoxide emitted in the air, resulting in less contaminated environment for people to live in. In conclusion, I would like to emphasize that this type of working requires some infrastructures and plans to succeed. Based on them, not only could it immune us from many negative issues but it also will benefit society and the economy in general.
