Some people believe that the government should take care of old people and provide financial support after they retire. Others say individuals should save during their working years to fund their own retirement. What is your opinion? Give reasons for your answer and include examples from your own experience. During the last few years there has been widespread public debate over the financial aid to senior citizens. Yet, there remain some disagreements as to whether the overall effect of this kind of support is positive or not. While there are certainly valid arguments to the contrary, I believe taking care of the elderly has a good deal of benefits which far outweigh this drawbacks. The first and perhaps the most significant point regarding dedication of a specific amount of budget to the people above a specific age, is the sense of security this services can bring about for the general public. Not only do the seniors feel they are respected as a human being, but also the young generation can learn that humans must be respected regardless of their age or financial productivity. Only when the governments respect their populace, can we expect a low crime society. On the other hand, thanks to the recent advances in medical science that lead to longer longevity, the governments have to shoulder the burden of an overwhelming majority of the population who do not have any financial profit for the society. It goes without saying that not all tax payers agree with this kind of wide-ranging services, hence the failure of such a morale-boosting mission. Many a cashstrapped senior citizen suffers from mental and physical disabilities that such plan could save his life. To cut a long story short, once again I would like to reaffirm my position saying that taking care of weak citizens is upon incumbent of all members of a morale-oriented society. That taking care of senior citizens is a sign of a civilized society is an indisputable fact. Taking for old generation shows people are respected as they are, and materialistic values which lead us to a variety of plights are not counted.
