Some people believe that construction of new public buildings such as museums, town halls and sporting facilities is more important than renovation of the existing ones, while others disagree. Discuss both views and give your own opinion. Refurbishment of the buildings providing service to the public or dedication of a part of governmental revenues to erecting new public construction has become the subject of heated debate between among an overwhelming majority (majorities) of people in recent years. While there are valid arguments to the contrary, I personally, believe that spending on newly built construction far outweigh the drawbacks. Perhaps investment in new public facilities looks costly, but bearing in mind that thanks to the recent civil engineering advances, new construction can benefit us in a variety of aspects. I strongly believe that not only do the new engineering methods in construction save lives of the ones using the public buildings, but it also can save the invaluable commodities inside them. Considering an antique museum or theatre hall can make it clearer that renovation of such construction can lead to a disaster if would not supervised properly. Gone are the days when the governments could omit spending budget on safety. On the other hand, hardly do the opponents accept spending on the extravagant costs of putting up modern buildings. Tiered and hopeless of tough financial situations due to the global recession over the last years, modern populace are expecting the officials to create jobs, provide free healthcare for people from all walks of life, feasible plans to put an end to worldwide hunger and malnutrition, and the last but not least, permanent peace movement across the globe instead of new state-of-the art skyscrapers. That nowadays modern life demands peace and mutual understanding instead of more industrial innovations is an indisputable fact. By way of conclusion, despite the fact that the erection of new buildings such as new hospitals, schools, and sport stadiums seems inevitable, managing the existing facilities should not be overlooked. I maintain that it is time city managers spent every cent of public resources so wisely to gain the majority acceptance.
