It is important for children to learn the difference between right and wrong at an early age. Punishment is necessary to help learn this distinction. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this opinion? What sort of punishment should parents and teachers be allowed to use to teach good behavior to children? Nowadays, raising children becomes more difficult than the past. Since the number of children has reduced considerably in each family, so parents have much of a role in their charges’ life. For instance, the manner parents teach them to learn the difference between wrong and right is vital. In my opinion, parents play an important role in bringing their charges up. In other words, they must conduct themselves in order to enhance their own ability to teach children the mentioned distinction. In terms of psychology, only if parents put efforts to into solve solving their behavior problems will the children recognize right from wrong in their life. On the other hand, age is another main factor in this regard. Young children cannot realize the reason of some wrong items. Moreover, sanctions should not be imposed at an early age particularly below five years old at which children are absolutely sensitive and vulnerable. Once the age of reason is reached, parents and teachers can teach children to know the mentioned difference through private logical conversation preferably. Those who have better ability to convince the children will be more effective. Last but not least, punishment cannot be useful at all, especially corporal punishment. Not only will it be effective, but also it will cause negative impact on child’s characteristics which in turn brings about some problems such as stress, nervousness and shyness. Some parents and teachers prefer to impose sanction on children. However, I strongly believe positive reinforcement leads to precious influences on their personality. Adults should aid children in learning variable skills of life. Consequently, further to the above explanation, parents will be succeed in teaching their charges provided they conduct themselves first. In addition, age of children must be considered as an important factor. As I mentioned in last paragraph, no sort of punishment can be quite effective, even though some parents are agree to do it regrettably.
