Others believe that going to classes should be optional for students. Which point of view do you agree with? Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer. Educational methods have seen many changes through the years, which are accompanied by a lot of hot debates which discussdiscussing the best ways to educate people. Among many options, classes establish an ideal environment for teachers to transfer their knowledge. Although attending classes has always been assumed as a fact in the learning process, I believe that it should be optional for university students to attend because some do have jobs simultaneously, learn better by self-study and as adults should be given a the right to choose. First of all, living in the modern world has brought up many consequences which have highlighted the importance of holding a job to handle the financial issues. Students are no exception to this fact, as they have to pay a considerable amount of money for their fees and other living expenses. Besides, engaging in classes provides learners with theoretical ideas and they still need to be involved in the practical fields to meet their future job demands. Based on this, they prefer to participate in a more pragmatic situations to hone their skills. Part-time jobs are a proper solution to fulfill these purposes. As a consequence, if presenting presence in classes becomes mandatory, their work life would be affected and they would lose their chance to broaden their horizons. Moreover, people’s learning style extends across a wide range which cannot be summarized only through class learning environments. Sitting in one position and focusing on a specific subject for hours is are not suitable for everyone and also some do not function properly in group studies. Besides, with the rise ofadvances in technology, many sources have provided rich materials for enthusiasts and among them are some free online courses. Therefore, when students are offered to take their courses in any way they feel comfortable with, higher grades, deeper learning and a more useful function would be the result. Finally, when teenagers enter adulthood, the first thing they demand is becoming more independent and free and they should hold responsibility for their actions. In a liberal world, limiting someone in the name of educating them has no place. Forcing them to be present in classes, may backfire and endanger their academic achievements. As a result, when students are given a the right to choose, the outcome would be a diverse society which covers every aspect that is needed for a healthy and harmonized living atmosphere. To sum up, I believe that students should not be obliged to attend university classes. I suggest that universities relax their roles a bit in terms of participation. In this way they students would have a better work-life balance, be more successful academically and have a higher spirit. |
