Some say that for any country hosting an international sports event such as the Olympic Games is costly, inefficient and is a waste of money, while others disagree. Discuss both views and give your own opinion. A wide range of people believe that spending a budget on international sports events like the World Cup or Olympic games is a kind of wasting money and governments can invest this amount of money in on social welfare or invest to create new job opportunities while some are against this idea and believe that hosting such events has a lot of financial benefits besides its cultural positive points. In this essay I am trying to compare both viewpoints and at the last paragraph, I will share my own idea regarding this subject. In some parts of the world and to be more specific in developing countries most people believe that spending on international sports events is not unnecessary so important while people are suffering from lack of basic human needs. They defend their viewpoints reasoning that the governments have to spend country's budget on infrastructures to attack on poverty, provide people with suitable shelter, clean water, public health insurance, welfare and services like these. By spending on sports events, government cannot do not afford to spend on the mentioned services. However, While some others do not agree with the idea above and believe that spending on such events will lead to economic prosperity. The answer is simple and straight, first of all the event owner dedicates an amount of money to the country wherein the event is supposed to be held and with which the they must renew or build appropriate sports complexes, hotels to accommodate sports teams and people who will come to see the games. It is on the host country to provide proper transportation from the residential area to the place where the games are held and all the mentioned items are some sort of investment and will create new jobs and improve the infrastructure of the countries. I personally believe that not only is spending on the sports events a kind of financial investment but also it is kind of positive investment. The host country will gain an acceptable profit from the sports tourists who come to the country and the economy wheel starts running. Local retailers can sell their products and small businesses will grow and these are just a few benefits I could write here and I think we do not have to forget that by hosting an international sports event the infrastructure of the country will be improved and the human's basic needs will be provided automatically.
