Some people say History is one of the most important school subjects. Other people think that, in today’s world, subjects like Science and Technology are more important than History. Discuss both these views and give your own opinion. In this day and age, with the markedly beneficial influence of technological and scientific developments over people’s lives, many argue that these subjects have more benefits in lieu of History. Others, however, have different idea. They believe that History is one of the main branches of study which should be considered a principal course in schools due to its important role in educating us for living in an appropriate way. On the one hand, History has been cited as one of the most pivotal subjects which is taken into consideration by its advocates. They think that studying it is a shortcut for us to attain a better life by virtue of learning from our ancestors’ faults and achievements. It can pave the way for planning a more successful life and subsequently diminish the potential risks which lie ahead in the individuals’ way. Therefore, whilst our fathers and mothers experienced a situation, it is a seemingly rational expectation that they teach us what they know, and the sole way to fulfil it is exploring it throughout history. On the other hand, subjects such as Science and Technology are of primary importance in humans’ world, which has been quoted by their supporters. They say that, nowadays, our convenient lives are owing to advancements which have been made in technology. When these fields play a crucial role in people’s level of welfare and life expectancy, is it a reasonable decision to give their invaluable places to others like History? Thus, human beings should persist in studying them to improve their life quality. Consequently, not only can studying History lead to us earning a wisely prosperous life by brightening our path up, but also Technology and Science can facilitate our life and thereafter arm us to combat (provide us to tackle) unpredictable conditions and thereby, day by day, eliminating threats one after another. Hence, neglecting to learn each of them, that is “History, Technology and Science”, and denying ourselves their priceless effects on our lives seem to be an obviously destructive determination.
