 Some Experts believe that it is better for children to begin learning a foreign language at primary school rather than secondary school. Do the advantages of this outweigh the disadvantages? There is a belief maintained by experts that learning second language would be easier in the early years of life. Accordingly, some other linguists suggest teaching second language at the primary school rather than secondary school. I concur with this view that advantages of learning a foreign language at primary school outweigh its drawbacks since they can be minimized. First, advocates of learning a foreign language at the early age partially believe in localization in human brain, which gives the ability to learn a language at the an early age. In addition, some experts note that learning a language can be more successful while your subconscious mind is more active than your conscious one, an ability that is in its highest potential in childhood. In other words, learning a language will be acquired easier and faster when it is a peripheral subject. Therefore, it can be perceived from these two theories that children’s mind are much more ready and agile for learning than adults’. From other point of view, primary school teachers are generalists and may not be adept in language teaching. Moreover, since the early ages of learning is critical for children if they learn something wrong it may be internalized in their mind. However, this drawback can be avoided through rigorously educational plans. And also, it is evident that an improper method of language teaching can make language learning an unpalatable experience for kids. In conclusion, I contribute to the idea that merits of learning at primary school outweigh its demerits. It is claimed that children are at their pivotal period oflearning which can help them have better experience in language learning and have their peak performance.
