Topic: Some people think that a sense of competition in children should be encouraged. Others believe that children who are taught to co-operate rather than compete become more useful adults. Discuss both views and give your own opinion. It is believed that some social skills are better learned at early ages. While teamwork and the spirit of competing with one another are among those life skills, striking a balance between those two, which is imperative, is inherently challenging. Living in an exceedingly fast-paced world is akin to the fact that you ought to constantly keep an eye on your surroundings., Meaning that a sense of rivalry in settings like schools, universities and workplaces would probably ease the path toward success. Having this potency taught at young ages, as children are somehow the adults in the making, will prepare them when the time comes. However, kids need to learn the distinction between a toxic competition and a healthy one. Practicing the former normally ends up in disappointment and frustration for the kids. For instance, most jobs require a form of competition within the employees in which the ultimate goal is the company’s success, not any individual triumph. A person with lack of this understating understanding might lose the track and fall behind the others. On the other hand, instructing the kids to be solely focused on the outcome might present some demerits. To cite an example, soccer is a team-oriented sport wherein not only is cooperation promoted but also it is dictated by the coaches. Playing soccer without having a notion of teamwork is definitely futile. Moreover, a growing body of empirical research indicates the undeniable benefits of cooperation. Also, I presume that teaching young people to work together in order to achieve a predefined target would make them realize the concept of wisdom of the crowd by which they could cover each other’s flaws along the way.In conclusion, I opine that cooperation and competition are two delicate skills that if practiced properly, will enable the children to become valuable assets to their community.
