Do you agree or disagree? It is impossible to always be completely honest with your friends. It is undeniable that ethics are great values and account for people’s goodness. However, in view of our actions’ consequences, a great debate entitled “moral relativism” has been sparked for centuries. This theory holds that moral values are not definite and determined according to the situations. One of these values is honesty. I strongly believe that moral values and actions especially honesty are changeable. In the following paragraphs, I will elaborate on my reasons. First, all of us have our own personal issues and sometimes we prefer not to tell anybody about them, even our closest friend. Moreover, some people and scientists argue that if you want to pursue your goals and fulfill your dreams, you should not talk about them to other people. As a result, if you take such an attitude and other people do not respect your privacy, they force you to dodge sth. Since you do not want to satisfy their curiosity about your life and decisions. In fact, your honesty depends on others’ behaviors and questions. Consequently, I think that individuals are right not to not talk about their problems honestly. Next, it has happened to everybody that they know something about their friends or families which is not obviously for to their benefit. In other words, not knowing that issue is in their favor. Therefore, I guess we are allowed not to tell the truth to them. It should be considered that not telling the truth is different from lying. However, some people do not distinguish between not speaking the truth and white lies. To conclude, I opine that feeling bound to be honest relies heavily on the situation and its result. In fact, you have this right to not adhere to this moral value under two circumstances: First, the topic being discussed is about yourself and your life, and the second one is that the subject is about other people and the truth definitely is not in their favor. To put it simply, your dishonesty is not condemned until as long as nobody’s right is disregarded.
