Task: in recent years children have been given more freedom than in the past. Do you think this is positive or negative development? Give your opinion and examples. People have different views as to/about how much freedom should be given to children and it has been an all‐consuming question for most parents whether it is good to give more freedom to children or not. This essay will discuss some useful points. However, I personally believe the positive points outweigh the negatives. Giving freedom to children means that they have a chance to create their own destiny and they can be self‐reliant instead of being restricted by their parents. In other words, by giving considerable amounts of freedom to children they can develop their decision making and social skills as well as their independent character. In addition, parents can keep their kids within their line of vision ,but still allowing them to explore their environments .With such an appropriate boundaries and support children can experience and learn at their own pace and get power to decide on their own will. For example, giving the children freedom to choose how they would like to manage their leisure times, homework and TV programs, and all in all, based on their own priority. On the other hand, I agreed that giving freedom to children is very/quite/excessively/extremely important in building and improving their social skills and behaviors. Also they feel proud pride to handle responsibilities on their own which gives them confidence, besides affecting their thinking levels. In this case, if they are restricted from contributing and involving themselves with others, they cannot learn the mentioned skills. To sum up, Even though freedom is a major threat to parents and they may find it difficult to control, it is a decisive factor in a child's success as he/she they can venture further and makes their own lives with it, under their parental supervision.
