Some people believe the aim of university education is to help graduates get better jobs. Others believe there are much wider benefits of university education for both individuals and society. Discuss both view and give your opinion. People have different views about the role of university education and how it should affect graduates’ prospect. Whereas some people hold the view that the sole purpose of universities is helping graduates land on a decent job, it seems to me that the university education’s contribution is far more than that and its impacts extend on to both individuals and society level. On the one hand, there are several reasons why having a satisfying job is vital for graduates. Firstly, attending university is prohibitively expensive. While studying, many students are obliged to take out a loan to pay for tuition and fees, accommodation, and buying books and stationeries, all of which are necessary to finish their courses. Students and their families would not shoulder these financial burdens unless they made sure graduates would be able to earn enough in a lucrative position to pay their debt. Secondly, doing a university degree is a tremendously hard work and students should apply themselves for many years. Those who embrace these difficulties, in all likelihoods, would expect not only a head start but also more satisfying job experience upon their peers who are absorbed effortlessly to the job market right after high school. Finally, a vast majority of vacancies in leading enterprises, which offer the most competitive and desirable posts, are being filled with people with university degrees. More people, as a result, equate universities’ role to help people to find better jobs. On the other hand, the tertiary education would be of the even more benefits to individuals and society. For one, ordinarily, educated people are among the most prestigious citizens of every community, so they are obviously admired and treated with more respect, thereby enjoying more opportunities when it comes to their position in society. Furthermore, edified and trained in the a more diverse environment with a variety of ethnics ethnicities and cultures, university graduates are more likely to turn up as well-rounded individuals with broader social skills, for in university environment and campuses, students with different nationalities and races have the chance to work and live together. On the social side, it has is widely accepted that the higher the rate of educated people, the more developed the country. Educated people are normally among highly seasoned people of each society and can enhance a country’s future in both technological and cultural domains if they utilizeing their expertise. In conclusion, although the importance of job opportunities for educated people cannot be overlooked, I argue that individuals and society would far more benefit by the university education.
