Some people say that art subjects such as music, drama and creative writing are an essential part of education, and every school should include them in its syllabus. Do you agree or disagree with this statement? Give your opinion and examples from your own experience. During the last five decades there has been widespread public debate over the core curriculum of educational systems. While many strongly believe that art courses must be considered to be an indispensable part of educational programs, others, however, have valid arguments to the contrary claiming that such subjects are just wasting of time. When it comes to this controversial notion, I hold the idea that art courses play a pivotal role in students’ future life. The subjects taught at educational centers are mostly selected by a group of experts trying to prepare students for a specific field of activity. Amongst a variety of programs, those with art courses such as drawing, acting or sculpture seems more attractive to the majority of students reasoning that those classes can present them with a rare opportunity to unwind. This group also claim that the hectic pace of life does not allow them to dedicate specific time for relaxation. In other words, advocates argue not only can the obligatory art courses separate them from repeatedly sedentary lifestyle, but it also hone their creative abilities. Having said that, it is taught by a handful of people that spending time on art at schools can distract students from their ultimate targets. As art classes are more often than not available out of traditional educational centers followers of this viewpoint maintain that only limited art subjects should be allowed to be taught at schools. In other words, only when specific syllabus are learnt by students, can we expect schools to train professionally expert graduates. That today’s world demands professionals in different fields is an indisputable fact. To cut a long story short, I hold the idea that our world desperately needs calm and peace rather than technological advances, hence the importance of art classes at educational centers. In my opinion, a possible solution to achieve peace across the globe is to prioritize human science classes, mainly art, at schools rather than other financial finance-oriented subjects.
