Every year thousands of students go overseas to study. Although many benefit from the experience, others go home disappointed. What are the benefits and drawbacks of studying in another country? Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge and experience. With the help of the internet and technology studying abroad has evolved from a luxury to an option on the table for many students in emerging developing countries. There has been a large debate over the upsides and disadvantages of studying in a foreign country in recent decades, however, in my opinion the merits of studying abroad far outweigh its downsides. Firstly, studying in a foreign country will give you the opportunity to learn and study the culture of the host country so in addition to solely studying a degree you would have the opportunity to know more about the world and expand your knowledge by interacting with students from different countries. Moreover, when you are studying abroad you will know how to live a life independently and you can rely more on your abilities rather than your family support resulting in a better leadership and communication skills. On the other hand, one might say that with the ongoing brain drain trend migrating from emerging developing countries to developed countries ones soon enough (developing countries) the former which have the most students in this regard will be empty of high IQ and EQ youngsters which would be the future leaders of that those countries country. Nevertheless, in my opinion the origin country of the students wishing to study abroad should work more on making creating/offering equal opportunities and encouraging the students to come home after studying and to share their knowledge and experiences otherwise migrating abroad for students will become an inevitable fact. In a nutshell, although there are numerous difficulties that a student studying overseas would face, he or she can benefit from this experience and grow by this these hardships. To put it simply I want to emphasize that if a student or simply a person have has a purpose in life and studying abroad is aligned with that goal they can benefit from the experience of studying overseas, or else/otherwise they are heading home disappointed.
